  • It is rare that an author manages to cram so much information and knowledge into a story without weighing it down but Survivor: Titanic proceeds at a breakneck pace. If the aim of the Scholastic series is to teach the history curriculum in an exciting and thrilling manner, then they have certainly succeeded with this first release

  • A Great Book!

    I am currently using this as a guided reading text for a group of ten year olds learning about the Titanic. A great plot line throughout with lots of tension and opportunities for prediction. The children have loved the fact it is based on real life passengers such as Mr Astor. A great read 👍🏼

  • Immersive read

    Just finished reading this novel and thoroughly enjoyed the pace, appropriate content for children and drama. Stephen has created a ‘safe’ retelling for children with a genuine love of the Titanic.
    I particularly loved the theme of friendship (including Beryl’s dog) and the way the sinking was handled sensitively.

  • Excellent and gripping

    My 10 year old son picked this to buy from a book event at school and absolutely loved it, read it in 3 nights. An excellent way to get across the real events and explain a bit of history to that age, he said it’s the best book he’s ever read! He wants to read the Pompeii book in the series now.

  • Read this in preparation for our Year 6 Titanic unit. Great that it is from a child’s point of view & sticks to the true line of events of the Titanic’s sinking. I enjoyed the characters, some fictional and some true passengers of the Titanic. Plenty of opportunities for writing including the interesting inclusion of Dragon’s Blood as well as challenging vocabulary/subjext specific vocabulary. Would recommend 🙂
